Shinjuku Prince Hotel

Located in the heart of Shinjuku and abutting a railway station, this vintage hotel, opened in 1977, contains 800 guest rooms and had been running almost full occupancy among local travelers and Asian tourist.

The lobby was in the basement complete with a huge floor plate of 8300 sq. ft. of relatively unused cafes and retail which became luggage re-packing area for tourist.  However, due to recent competitions and a need to upgrade for a more international clientele leading up to the Olympics in 2020, warrants a complete renovation of the public area.

With a tight budget in mind, the renovation started with a complete replanning to maximize the usage of the space, creating a new casual restaurant “the Station”, featuring a grab and go island pantry with sit down services and a long table for large groups.  LED monitors broadcast the departure information from the train station.
