The Studio
CL3 is an innovative architecture firm based in Hong Kong, with offices in Shenzhen and Beijing. Founded in 1992, CL3’s design is contemporary, while preserving the ability to bridge Architecture and Art. CL3 gives Eastern aesthetics a modern interpretation resulting in a unique showcase of distinguished designs. Renowned artist and architect William Lim provides the leadership and vision for CL3’s 60-person-strong team of dedicated professionals.
CL3 is committed to good design with artistic value. Its portfolio is as wide as it is varied, having provided architecture and interior design projects from commercial buildings to 5 star hotels throughout Asia. Its design commitment is one that looks to respecting the changing urban fabric of modern Asian cities, while staying true to their core cultural heritage. This attitude has contributed to CL3’s many award winning projects throughout its 27 years in business.
Important CL3 designs include Raffles City Chongqing (2020), H Queen's (2017), H Code (2018), Gaysorn Plaza (Bangkok, 2017), The Hemispheres (2015), Pushcart Furniture Series for Cornell University (NY, 2016), Millennium Mitsui Garden Hotel (Tokyo, 2015), East Hong Kong (2010), Hotel ICON (2011), and Marina Bay Sands (Singapore, 2010).
William Lim and CL3 are proud to have been honored with numerous design awards from various design bodies, including the American Institute of Architects, the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, the Hong Kong Interior Design Association, the Hong Kong Design Centre (Design for Asia Award), the Interior Design Magazine US for the Best of the Year Award, the Gold Key Award for Excellence in Hospitality Design, the China Design Award and most recently Chinese Designer of the Year 2017.
Our Team
Dr. William Lim
William Lim is Managing Director of CL3. He graduated from Cornell University in the U.S., with Bachelor and Master Degrees in Architecture. After graduating, he worked in Boston as an architect for five years, before returning to Hong Kong in 1987. He founded CL3 in 1992. He was conferred an Honorary Doctorate degree by Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in 2018.
Clinton TsOi
Clinton Tsoi, Head of Design – Architecture of CL3, he holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Toronto. A trained architect and long timer with CL3, Clinton has worked upon a wide spectrum of building types and completed a number of high profile developments across Hong Kong, PRC, and Asia. These include H Queen’s, Times Clubhouse, H Bonaire.
Joey Wan
Joey Wan is Design Director of CL3. A graduate of Middlesex University and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Wan has a Master of Arts Degree in Design Leadership, and a Bachelor of Art (Hons). A long-running CL3 stalwart, Wan has worked on many hospitality and lifestyle projects including the Millennium Mitsui Hotel Ginza in Japan, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, Hotel ICON in Hong Kong, Mira Spa at Mira Hotel in Hong Kong, Nishimura Restaurant at the Shangri-La Hotel in Beijing, the Nadaman Restaurants at the Kowloon, and the Island Shangri-la Hotels in Hong Kong. Wan is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English.
Jane Arnett
Jane Arnett is a Senior Associate at CL3. A qualified British architect and interior designer, Jane graduated from the University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Architecture Studies and a Bachelor of Architecture. She is a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Chartered Society of Designers (UK) and has lived in Hong Kong since 1982. With more than 14 years at CL3, Jane has a portfolio that encompasses hotels, restaurants, bars, spas, retail outlets and club houses. Her project list includes the Fairmont Hotel Nanjing, China, Gateway Marco Polo Hotel, Hong Kong, various Shangri-La Hotel restaurants, Hotel Icon, Hong Kong, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, Discovery Bay Hotel Spa, Hong Kong, East Hotel, Hong Kong, Marco Polo Hotel, Beijing, Lane Crawford Stores, Hong Kong and Hangzhou, China.
Fion Li
Fion Li is General Manager of CL3’s Beijing office. A graduate of City University of Hong Kong, Li has a High Diploma in Architectural Studies. She has been with CL3 since 1997, transferring from Hong Kong to China in 2001 to manage the Beijing office. Li has worked on a range of projects primarily in mainland China. Li is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English.
